Dr. Marcio Candido, Brazilian violinist, has performed extensively around the world as a soloist, concertmaster, and chamber musician. He is a member of the acclaimed Arcada String Quartet, recipient of a Silver Medal from the Global Music Awards. His debut album Brazil x Argentina—praised as “a superb performance” by Fanfare Magazine (2020)—led to his nomination as Person of the Year by the Anchorage Press. He is a prizewinner in several international competitions, including The American Prize and the colORCHESTRA Competition. In 2021, he made his solo debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
Recently, Dr. Candido released a single with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra on the Cicerone label, featuring Wieniawski’s Polonaise de Concert, Op. 4. His solo engagements with ensembles such as the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmônica do Rio de Janeiro, Orquestra Sinfônica da Bahia, Orquestra de Câmara da UNIRIO, Orquestra Filarmônica Adventista do Brasil, New England Repertory Orchestra, Southern Adventist Symphony Orchestra, and the Anchorage Bowl Chamber Orchestra have been met with acclaim.
Dr. Candido earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, where he studied under Paulo Bosisio. He completed his Master of Music at the Longy School of Music of Bard College with Eric Rosenblith and received a special scholarship to study with the legendary Roman Totenberg. He pursued further mentorship with Kazuko Matsusaka and Julie Rosenfeld before earning his Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Peter Zazofsky at Boston University. In 2016, he was elected to the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. From 2014 to 2017, he served as a teaching assistant at Boston University.
